Shoe Spotlight: Red Soles at TJ Maxx

Christian-Louboutin-Huguetta-at-TJ-Maxx

After TJ Maxx launched The Runway in select stores a few years ago, my chances at finding high-end shoes for less greatly increased. My collection of decadent footwear grew significantly since then, but there was always a nagging thought at the back of my mind: what about Manolos, Jimmy Choos, and Louboutins? Today I finally got my answer.

I’ve spotted Sergio Rossi, Valentino, Brian Atwood, and Prada at TJ Maxx, but today was the first time I came across a pair of pumps with a distinct red sole. For the longest time, the possibility of finding a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes at TJ Maxx was just a rumour fueled by a couple tweets and some Instagram photos over the years. So basically a slim to none chance. Imagine my surprise when I found a pair of pristine pumps (still in a box!) on a bottom shelf at the TJ Maxx on 6th Ave in NYC. Luck seemed to be on my side because they were also my size. I immediately slipped them on and trotted around the corner to show my mom. They didn’t come home with me, but I’m sure some other lucky Maxxinista will find them. (You can still get them online at Bluefly and MyTheresa.)

The store was probably a gold mine before everything went on clearance, at which point bargain hunters snatched the goodies up. But I did spot several designer shoes on clearance, such as Gucci ankle boots for $500, Saint Laurent Classic Paris pumps for $300, and some Jimmy Choo Blaine booties for $700 (still available on Net-a-Porter). Sadly, none of these great shoes went home with me, but I did adopt a pair of Theory leather leggings that I’d been trying to hunt down!
