I had one of those “stop everything!” moments when I saw the email from Saks pop into my mailbox announcing a shoe sale. I like to check everything out before it’s all gone, so I headed to the site right away. And I wasn’t disappointed with the selection! Here are some of my picks:
Grommets can sometimes look tacky or overdone, but Tamara Mellon (above) strikes a great balance. They give this feminine minimalist sandal a tough-luxe vibe without making it look too heavy. If you’re loving this look, head over to her website to see some more stunners on clearance.
I have a love-hate relationship with asymmetric shoes; they have to be made just right to actually create a flattering look on the foot. But every now and then, I come across what I consider a real stunner. These pumps by Sergio Rossi are perfectly balanced when it comes to coverage, and the slim strap will make any ankle look dainty. I also love the deep indigo color, which is great for the upcoming fall season.
The Manolo Blahnik Chaos sandal played a huge role in the minimalist sandal movement. It’s not hard to see why: the shoes are classic, comfortable, and timeless. Black and nude work great with all outfits, but grab a pair in citron or orange for a pop of color with your spring and summer outfits.
Fringe played a major role this past spring, but I’ve always felt that it’s a texture more suitable to fall. It can add a great boho or rocker vibe. I’m not the biggest fan of heavy amounts of fringe, so I think it’s best to stick to one statement piece in an outfit. Of course I’m going to choose shoes, and these pumps from Alice + Olivia are a great place to start. If they’re out of your size, check out this sandal from Stuart Weitzman.
I’m a big fan of Vince shoes for the clean lines and modern feel. The silhouette of these sandals is perfectly balanced, and I love the thicker heel. If Saks is out of your size, check Gilt.
Sleek black slip-ons are extremely versatile and give any outfit a casual yet elevated look. Grab a pair of these crocodile embossed sneakers by Ash. They’re especially great for work commutes or errands.
And if you’re looking for something a bit more elevated in the sneaker department, these gold sneakers from Joie are a step up from your basic black.
Playing with textures is always fun. I like to stick with minimal mixed details though, like these pumps from Alexandre Birman. There’s a nicely balanced combination of suede and snakeskin, which gives them a very sophisticated look. I’d pair these pumps with a neutral color-blocked outfit so they can really pop.
I’m a big fan of color-blocking, and I especially love when a bright color is mixed with neutrals. These sandals from Vince are simple yet stunning, perfect for casual outfits or to contrast with patterned dresses.
And last but not least, you can never go wrong with classic black suede flats, especially if they’re Manolo Blahnik and on sale!
