After a summer full of whites and bright colors, I look forward to the muted tones of fall and winter. These pumps by Schutz are a perfect transition style because they retain the ladylike silhouette of a summer shoe, but are crafted with colors and textures perfect for the fall season. Around here, temperatures stay warm for a while, so this pair is perfect for those sunnier fall days when I don’t want to wear boots just yet. I actually snagged them last year during the final clearance markdowns of summer. I personally think this is the best time to look for transition pieces since the stores clear out their stock to make room for fall and winter goodies.
If you’re as obsessed with TJ Maxx as I am, you probably already know about their Access Program. I love getting invited to shop at private parties, especially when they get truckloads of new seasonal items. You get first dibs on everything! I went this past weekend, and stumbled upon these magnificent boots. I just had to try them on. They’re chunky, furry, and totally bad-ass. Seriously though, I felt like an invincible woman of power while wearing them, most likely due to the six inch heel and heavy feel. But although they were fantastic, I definitely didn’t need another pair of boots, especially considering I already had two others in my cart! If they’re what you’re looking for though, pop into your local store and see if there’s a pair hanging out on the shelves.
Some time ago, I mentioned these shoes briefly in a double-take post, and just recently realized that I have never featured this gorgeous pair! These Yves Saint Laurent Opyum pumps were probably my most fortunate footwear find. I was in the St. David’s TJ Maxx store during the tail end of the winter clearance event last year. There were a fair amount of clothing clearance bargains still left but after perusing the shoes and not finding much in my size, I headed off to the registers. As I was waiting in line, I decided to dig through a large clearance bin nearby…and I came across these. I’m not sure who stuffed them into the container filled with lotions and beauty products, but I’m so very glad that they did!
I like to welcome spring with a bang. After months of wearing boots and closed shoes, slipping my feet into a fantastic pair of strappy sandals feels so great. This particular pair by Michael Kors is one of my favorites. I plucked them off the shelves at TJ Maxx some time ago, and didn’t even debate putting them in my cart after trying them on. The color is probably my favorite thing about them, but I also love how comfortable they are. Needless to say, they get many complements. I even won a couple contests by sharing these!
I first ventured into the world of smoking slippers back in December with an embellished pair from DSW. And although my style is more feminine with a bit of edge, I’ve found the menswear-inspired flats to be one of my favorites. They’re very laid back, extremely comfortable, and are a perfect finishing touch to my more casual sweater-and-legging outfits. It’s now the end of February and I’ve just gotten my third pair of smoking slippers. I found these by Vince Camuto at the bottom of the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for a steal at $20. I love them because of the quilted look, subtle snakeskin texture, and tiny studs across the entire shoe. They look a bit more refined than my other embellished pair, which makes them perfect for casual Fridays at the office!
This photo doesn’t feature the shoes I’m wearing, but it does showcase the fantastic Joe’s Jeans I scored at TJ Maxx last week. Lucky for me (dangerous actually), there is a TJ Maxx on my way home from work. So, naturally, I stop in often during the week. I’m a sucker for cobalt blue, and I spotted these leather pants a little while ago for $80 (still a great deal for leather). But I waited, and the price eventually dropped to a staggering $15 with a yellow sticker, at which point I snatched them up without thinking twice. Usually when something has been on the racks for a while and gets marked this low, it tends to have some flaws; some of the other Joe’s Jeans had snags, stains, or tears. These, however, are perfectly flawless! The only thing wrong with them? They were accidentally labeled size 10 instead of size 2. I drove home with a big smile on my face.
Laser technology allows for intricate detailing in the production of many goods, and I’m glad it’s being used more often for shoe design. Designers can craft styles with really unique shapes and patterns, turning shoes into works of art. The geometric detail in these Brian Atwood sandals makes them a great statement piece.
After TJ Maxx launched The Runway in select stores a few years ago, my chances at finding high-end shoes for less greatly increased. My collection of decadent footwear grew significantly since then, but there was always a nagging thought at the back of my mind: what about Manolos, Jimmy Choos, and Louboutins? Today I finally got my answer.
I love taking trips to TJ Maxx, even if it is just to browse. There are two stores about thirty minutes away from me that have The Runway, so I’m a bit spoiled in terms of finding luxe merchandise for less. If I go at a good time, right when they get new shipments or when they do the first round of clearance stickers, I can find a lot of great deals. Unfortunately, many of these deals are still outside my budget. But if I ever wanted to splurge or spoil myself, this is where I’d go.
If I could, I’d wear heels all the time because love them so much. But we all know there are many situations where that kind of footwear is completely impractical. Walking around an arboretum would be torturous in heels! However, I don’t let long walking trips deter me from wearing stylish shoes. In my opinion, comfortable flat sandals are always better when compared to flip-flops. I opted for these tie-up gladiator sandals by Pour La Victoire (found at TJ Maxx about 4 years ago) because they have substantial cushioning in the sole and, once tied, they’re very secure on the feet. They were a great choice; my brother and I walked around for about 3 hours and my feet didn’t complain! Plus, they really pulled the outfit together.
