Shoe of the Day: Simply Sharp

A great pump always makes any outfit look sharp and sophisticated. I love these by Kurt Geiger for the slim profile, needle-thin heel, and low vamp. The Ellen reminds me of these gorgeous but elusive Sergio Rossi pumps at DSW. Although I already have a beautiful pair of classic black pumps from Vince Camuto, these are begging to join the others in my closet…I’ll be keeping an eye on the price!

Shoe of the Day: Evening Minimalism

I enjoy extravagantly designed shoes as much as the next shoe lover, but you can never go wrong with basics. And there’s nothing more basic than a simple pump or minimalistic strappy sandal. Single sole ankle-strap sandals were huge this past spring, but they haven’t gone away yet! This makes me very happy, because as much as it’s fun to wear shoes that are embellished and unique, it’s also necessary to step back and keep it simple from time to time. Zara is very good at offering basic styles at great prices, and this suede sandal is perfect in it’s minimalism.

Double-Take: Isabel Marant Poppy

Isabel Marant Poppy (sold out)

There’s something adorably appealing about the Isabel Marant Poppy pump. When most people thinkof pumps, they usually picture a basic wardrobe staple in versatile colors like grey, navy, and black. While simple and basic is a good thing to have, it’s also nice to add something a little more fun into the collection. The cute bow detail on the front of these pumps brings an updated look to a classic style, making it perfect for both work and play outfits. It’s no wonder these sold out quickly! But if you’d still like the look (and for a fraction of the price!) check out the Elisa from Sole Society:

I actually prefer these instead of the original Poppy pump because I like the shape of the heel more. These also come in a couple colors, all perfect additions to your collection!

Tuesday Shoesday: Simply Black

Finding the perfect black pumps that go with everything is probably the hardest thing to do. For a while, I thought I was being too specific with what I wanted: straight heel, black suede, pointy toe with a hint of toe cleavage, and a walkable heel height. Ideally, I’d love a pair of Manolo Blahnik BB pumps. But alas, they don’t fit in my budget, so I had to look for something else. It took me quite some time (probably about a year!) to find a pair that had everything I was looking for and wouldn’t break the bank. I finally found this pair online. I debated purchasing them for a couple weeks. When I got an email with a 25% off discount code, I took the plunge and bought them. I’m so glad I did, because they ended up being exactly what I was looking for!

The Kain pump from Vince Camuto has a beautiful shape with a perfectly straight 4″ heel and a pointed toe that doesn’t squeeze. I did have to insert ball-of-foot cushions because the single sole is pretty thin, but after I did that, they’re extremely comfortable for a day at the office. The quality is great, and if I could, I’d get the style in many other colors as well!

Tuesday Shoesday: Ankle Strap Pumps

I’m a big fan of timeless styles, especially when adorned with skinny ankle straps. These black pumps by Franco Sarto (found on clearance at Marshalls!) work with pretty much everything in my closet. Sometimes mixing patterns and textures is tough, but on this pair it works; the snake embossed heel compliments the suede very nicely and doesn’t take away from the simple elegance of the shoe. Although I do wish the heel was slightly more slender, the thickness of it makes them very easy to walk in!
