Tuesday Shoesday: Glittering Gold

Back in October, I spotted a pair of black Michael Kors Fulton sneakers at Nordstrom Rack. They weren’t quite my style, so I let them go. Just recently, I came across the ones above at my local Marshalls, which I love. The tan color, accented with gold lining and silver glitter, works wonderfully as an updated neutral for casual outfits. Although both versions of the Fulton are super cool, it’s not surprising that I prefer the suede to the patent. Head over to your closest Marshalls to check them out!

Tuesday Shoesday: Asymmetric

These asymmetric cut-out pumps from Elizabeth and James are perfect for fall footwear. The style covers enough of the foot to avoid looking like a summer shoe, yet it’s open enough to show some skin or fun tights. They also have extra cushioning in the ball of the foot, so they’re quite comfortable! I found these lovelies at Marshalls with a yellow-sticker, meaning end-of-season-lowest-price-you’ll-get clearance. However, they had to go back. The fit is true to size and the leather is a beautiful matte black, but the ankle strap hit my bone at an awkward place, which started to hurt after about 15 minutes of walking around in my apartment. I was quite sad to return them, but hopefully they’ll find a home with another shoe lover. You can scour your local Marshalls or check the clearance racks at DSW (I saw a few pairs in silver) for these shoes on sale. They’re also available on Amazon, ShopBop, 6pm, or Saks but they cost quite a bit more.

Tuesday Shoesday: Art Deco Elegance

When I spotted these gorgeous heeled sandals by Ivanka Trump at Marshalls, my mind immediately jumped to 1920s glamour. Anyone who is familiar with art and architecture movements will recognize that these shoes are one-hundred percent inspired by Art Deco style. Even though the popularity of Art Deco faded after WWII, the style still represents luxury and exuberance. The Art Deco movement made sense; symmetry, rectilinear shapes, and machinery imagery spoke about social progression and technological progress. I like when things make sense, mathematically and visually, and this shoe perfectly embodies the idea of modern style with older roots.

If you’re lucky, you still might be able to find these shoes at your local Marshalls. If not, you can find them online at: Macy’s, 6pm, DSW, and Amazon.

Double-Take: B Brian Atwood Franciska

 B Brian Atwood Franciska

The only B by Brian Atwood shoe I’ve tried on was a pair of Bambola peep-toe pumps. And despite the seemingly uncomfortable height, the shoes were probably one of the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever had on my feet. I’m sure the Franciska fits just as well. Brian Atwood is one of those shoe designers who believes a shoe should be as comfortable as it is beautiful. His collections are known for their exceptional craftsmanship and bold color combinations. Although many of the shoes in his collections are tastefully designed with platforms, there are several beautiful single sole designs as well. The B by Brian Atwood collection is the lower-priced contemporary line, but still a bit pricey. However, there are double-takes out there!
Enzo Angiolini Loveutoo
Enzo Angiolini Loveutoo (6pm, Amazon, DSW, Nordstrom)
I haven’t tried this particular pair, but Enzo Angiolini shoes are generally very good quality and will last you a while for a lot less than the designer pair. There has been quite an upsurge in stylish shoes from this brand, which you can find at several department stores as well as off-price retailers like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Nordstrom Rack. I’ve been eying a few pairs lately, we’ll see what happens!

Tuesday Shoesday: Ankle Strap Pumps

I’m a big fan of timeless styles, especially when adorned with skinny ankle straps. These black pumps by Franco Sarto (found on clearance at Marshalls!) work with pretty much everything in my closet. Sometimes mixing patterns and textures is tough, but on this pair it works; the snake embossed heel compliments the suede very nicely and doesn’t take away from the simple elegance of the shoe. Although I do wish the heel was slightly more slender, the thickness of it makes them very easy to walk in!
