Double-Take: Givenchy Zenaide

I’m a sucker for laced and strappy sandals, which is why the Zenaide by Givenchy caught my eye. I love the grommet detailing along the center strap, which is just enough to give them an edgy feel without being too overwhelming. The thin straps perfectly balance out the thicker sole and boot-like shape.

Double-Take: Givenchy Buckled Sandal

Givenchy Buckled Sandal (Net-a-Porter, Barney’s)
There’s something very appealing about ankle-boot-sandal hybrids. They give off a very cool vibe. I think what I like most about them is that they can work across all four seasons; I’d love to pair these with some textured knit socks, tights, and a skirt on a chilly fall day. I also love the thick heel. Most people don’t find them chunky heels very flattering, but on my legs they really help balance out my small feet with my runner’s legs. And they’re much easier to walk in than pencil-thin heels! The designer price tag is quite hefty though, so I found some double-takes that are more wallet friendly:

Double-Take: Givenchy Fold Over Boot

 Givenchy Fold Over Boot
(Forward by Elyse Walker, Bergdorf, Saks, My Theresa)
It’s almost boot season! In honor of that fact, I wanted to pay tribute to these stunning fold over boots with shark tooth buckles from Givenchy. There are plenty of new styles coming out for this fall, but there’s something about the balance between simplicity and grandeur that makes them unforgettable. These boots are almost like a shield for your legs because of the sheer amount of layered leather, yet they look very refined because detailing is minimal. The fold over effect is leg-lengthening because it covers the wedge heel, and basically looks like an extension of your pants or leggings. I think they’d be flattering on pretty much everyone. But the price? Not so flattering.

Schutz Arleana (MyHabit, Oak)
Once again, Schutz provides us with another excellent double-take. Although there are significant differences (such as the buckle style, heel shape, and length of the fold-over), my mind immediately thought of the Givenchy boot as soon as I spotted these. I think they are as much of a statement shoe as the original design, but at a more budget-friendly price. Plus, Schutz shoes are always high quality!

Enzo Angiolini Damus (Macy’s)

These boots by Enzo Angiolini are not a perfect double-take, but if you’re going for the wedge with an over-size cuff look, the Damus is a great choice. Enzo shoes are high quality, and most of them are very comfortable.

On their feet: Shoes at the punk-themed Met Gala

Aubrey Plaza in Barbara Bui Heels

Of course I noticed all the dresses, but I was definitely paying more attention to the shoes worn for the punk-themed Met gala last week. I was surprised how many I actually recognized. I picked out several of my favorites, as well as tracked down where you could get some of them if you really wanted to. Enjoy!
