Evening Shoes

Double-Take: Jimmy Choo Abel

A gold shoe is striking, and doesn’t have to be worn only on special occasions. One of the best ways to make a statement is to wear evening shoes during the day. Luxe materials and details like rhinestones, satin, and velvet can easily pair with simple day dresses and jeans, you just have to be brave and confident with your style.

Shoe of the Day: Wrapped with a Bow

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I thought I’d pick a themed shoe for today, considered it’s a day to celebrate all kinds of love, including love for shoes. I’m not normally a fan of bows on footwear, but I find the Chrissie by Kate Spade quite beautiful. The entire shoe is elegant, feminine, and still sexy. Crafted with satin fabric, this heeled sandal looks sleek and sensual with it’s subtle shine and the bow on the heel adds a playful touch. You can find this red darling at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, and in black at Zappos.

Double-Take: Coach Laila

I’ve already confessed that I don’t like bows on my shoes (I think I have maybe two pairs of flats with a dainty little bow on them). Yet I couldn’t help but stop and look at these simply darling heels by Coach while I was meandering the shoe department at Macy’s in Philadelphia.

Tuesday Shoesday: A Night to Shine

How wonderful it is that Tuesday Shoesday falls on New Year’s Eve, a night during which every shoe lover should don their most fantastic footwear to great the new year! I was lucky enough to find these lovelies from the Ralph Lauren Collection some time ago and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear them. My NYE celebrations aren’t exactly a place for designer footwear (I care about my shoes too much to subject them to spilled drinks and clumsy dancing) so I’ll be saving these for another special event, such as Valentine’s day.

Tuesday Shoesday: Golden Girl

Nina Eunice Gold Embellished Pump

I have a slight obsession with golden shoes. I’m not sure why, but I find pumps, sandals, and even sneakers with that extra sparkle very enticing. If worn tastefully, I think gold shoes are a classic that can be styled with almost any outfit, not just evening and formal wear. Most golden shoes that I find irresistible continue to flit quite out of my price range, but I spotted these stunners during a leisurely browse at a DSW store nearby. Nina produces shoes that are considered evening shoes, but I think this particular pair would look fabulous glinting from under a pair of black pants.

Shoe of the Day: Modern Cinderella

I’m a huge fan of Disney movies, and one of my favorites has always been Cinderella. Partially because I’d love to have a bunch of animals help me out every day, but mostly because a pair of shoes changed her life. And any jeweled shoes, tastefully done of course, always catch my eye. It’s like a fantasy waiting to happen; putting them on makes it seem like anything is possible. Sometimes you just need that little extra sparkle in life to lift your mood. I love these gorgeous evening pumps from Rene Caovilla (available on Shoescribe). The blue satin is a great backdrop for the intricate beading and jewels, and the whole design is beautiful and tastefully done. They would look stunning with a short dress or peeking out from beneath a longer hem. For now I’ll keep dreaming, or hope to find a double-take at least!
