After a summer full of whites and bright colors, I look forward to the muted tones of fall and winter. These pumps by Schutz are a perfect transition style because they retain the ladylike silhouette of a summer shoe, but are crafted with colors and textures perfect for the fall season. Around here, temperatures stay warm for a while, so this pair is perfect for those sunnier fall days when I don’t want to wear boots just yet. I actually snagged them last year during the final clearance markdowns of summer. I personally think this is the best time to look for transition pieces since the stores clear out their stock to make room for fall and winter goodies.
It’s fantastic when the heel becomes a focal point on a pair of pumps, and Casadei has a great reputation for that. The iconic Blade pump is instantly recognizable for it’s sleek and modern shape. For the fall 2013 collection, Casadei took a walk on the wild side with animal prints and chunkier heels. This sculpted zebra heel is covered in pony hair and creates a beautiful contrast with the black suede upper. It came in several styles, including pumps, ankle boots, t-strap pumps, and jaw-dropping thigh high boots.
I had one of those “stop everything!” moments when I saw the email from Saks pop into my mailbox announcing a shoe sale. I like to check everything out before it’s all gone, so I headed to the site right away. And I wasn’t disappointed with the selection! Here are some of my picks:
Grommets can sometimes look tacky or overdone, but Tamara Mellon strikes a great balance. They give this feminine minimalist sandal a tough-luxe vibe without making it look too heavy. If you’re loving this look, head over to her website to see some more stunners on clearance.
I have a love-hate relationship with asymmetric shoes; they have to be made just right to actually create a flattering look on the foot. But every now and then, I come across what I consider a real stunner. These pumps by Sergio Rossi are perfectly balanced when it comes to coverage, and the slim strap will make any ankle look dainty. I also love the deep indigo color, which is great for the upcoming fall season.
The Manolo Blahnik Chaos sandal played a huge role in the minimalist sandal movement. It’s not hard to see why: the shoes are classic, comfortable, and timeless. Black and nude work great with all outfits, but grab a pair in citron or orange for a pop of color with your spring and summer outfits.
Fringe played a major role this past spring, but I’ve always felt that it’s a texture more suitable to fall. It can add a great boho or rocker vibe. I’m not the biggest fan of heavy amounts of fringe, so I think it’s best to stick to one statement piece in an outfit. Of course I’m going to choose shoes, and these pumps from Alice + Olivia are a great place to start. If they’re out of your size, check out this sandal from Stuart Weitzman.
Similar to the Manolo BB, the Jimmy Choo Anouk pump is another classic style. Pretty much every celebrity has been seen wearing a pair, and it’s easy to see why; the pump has a timeless shape and comes in various colors that can be worn with anything. But since I like classic with a twist, I’m more drawn to the studded Anouk. I love the little baby studs all over the shoe. It’s not quite punk, but it turns a basic black pump into something a little more unique. You can snag a pair on FarFetch, or check out some of the great double-takes I’ve found.
It’s no secret that I absolutely adore Casadei shoes. From season to season, there’s always something new, fantastic, and unexpected in the collections. I especially love the styles that have both lady-like elegance and edgier details. The sleek iconic blade heel really balances out the multiple tiny straps in this pair. I think the design evokes a little bit of bad-ass energy as well as a sophisticated feel. They’re sold out by now (last seen on Selfridges) but I managed to find a great double-take by Schutz instead.
I ventured over to the St. David’s TJ Maxx over the weekend. Let me just say that I was overwhelmed! I’ve never seen such a great selection of fall designer goodies. I pranced around the store throwing various things into my cart before finally narrowing my choices. The shoe department had several gems, including crystal studded Giuseppe’s and classic patent Jimmy Choos. Unfortunately for me, most of the choices were too large. On second thought, that might actually be a good thing, otherwise I would’ve come home with too many! But I did scoop up the stunning Saint Laurent Paris 80 classic suede pumps above. Although they are from the 2013 collection, this particular style will never be “out of season.” I love the deep yellow ochre color, a perfect earthy tone for any season but especially great for fall! This year, you can get them in midnight blue suede, black leather, or cobalt.
I love collaborations in the fashion world, it’s such a great way to mix things up. The Nine West x InStyle collections have always caught my eye because of the elegant and classic silhouettes. One of my favorites in the most recent collection is the Cate pump. I love the deep wine color (there are others as well!) because it’s perfect for fall and looks quite elegant. This particular ankle strap style is super versatile and works great for the office or a night out. They even look amazing with jeans! I also love the navy version, which is always a great color to have in your shoe collection.
I may not be a huge fan of ombré hair, but I do love ombré printed clothing and shoes. I think the effect can look very cool, especially with pumps. The beautiful Jimmy Choo Abel pump is a clear winner in the ombré footwear category—check out the black and gold Agnes and the black glitter Abel versions. But as much as I love the effect, I can’t justify spending the money. Luckily there’s a more affordable and still beautiful version out there!
The much anticipated fall-winter fashion season is sprinting towards us. Now that it’s officially September, I’m scrambling to fall great transition pieces and new winter staples. Earlier today, Casadei unveiled their new collection, an intriguing mix of opposites: classic elegance and eclectic energy. The beautiful Venice pump jumped out at me immediately. I adore the baroque floral detailing along the heel, quite a departure from Casadei’s signature blade style. And the purple suede has just enough depth to offset the gold metal beautifully. I’m officially in love! You can see the rest of the collection here.
Some time ago, I mentioned these shoes briefly in a double-take post, and just recently realized that I have never featured this gorgeous pair! These Yves Saint Laurent Opyum pumps were probably my most fortunate footwear find. I was in the St. David’s TJ Maxx store during the tail end of the winter clearance event last year. There were a fair amount of clothing clearance bargains still left but after perusing the shoes and not finding much in my size, I headed off to the registers. As I was waiting in line, I decided to dig through a large clearance bin nearby…and I came across these. I’m not sure who stuffed them into the container filled with lotions and beauty products, but I’m so very glad that they did!
