Human feet aren’t geometric, they’re organic. So I always find it very interesting when a shoe is created with flat planes and geometric shapes. The bootie above by Gianvito Rossi is beautifully intricate, yet still uncomplicated because the pattern is created simply from a repeating grid.
Everyone has that go-to pair of shoes in their closet, the pair that goes with everything and is super comfortable. And if you don’t, look no further than these boots by Enzo Angiolini (available at DSW or Nordstrom). The Saharia is a perfect blend of casual comfort and effortless cool. The style is so timeless that they’ll quickly become your best friend! I’m hoping to add a pair to my closet, as soon as I can track them down to try them on.
In my opinion, Valentino shoes were leaders when the studded shoe trend rose up last year. The collection included several tastefully embellished styles, including pumps, flats, and boots, that were easily recognizable and spotted on many celebrities and bloggers. These booties sold out fairly quickly!
After the Punk Fashion exhibit at the MET last spring, there was an upsurge in studded and edgier shoes for women. Although daintier styles had their moment in the spotlight as well, it’s pretty clear studs are here to stay for a while. And I’m not complaining, because it’s nice to throw in that extra detail from time to time.
Chelsea boots never completely went away, but now their popularity is increasing again due to updated silhouettes, such as pointed toes and studded details. They also come in various heel heights, like the fantastic pair above by Saint Laurent. This heeled adaptation is just as classic as the original flat version.
I’ve never believed in the “No white after Labor Day” rule for fashion; white is a classic color that can be worn year round as long as it’s styled properly. There are many shades of white and one of my favorites is “winter white,” which is not quite white and not quite cream, it’s a subtle ivory color that goes with everything. These wedge boots by Isabel Marant are the perfect shade of winter white, and would look amazing with pale grey jeans and a chunky cable-knit sweater. I especially love the little tufts of fur poking out from between the straps, it’s a unique touch to a simple boot. They’re currently on sale on Net-a-Porter, so grab a pair before they’re gone!
I can’t resist shoes with fluffy details. If I could, I’d snap them all up! I still can’t forget about “the ones that got away” because of my rationalized decision. Looking back, I probably could have kept them and paid them off by now, but at the time, it didn’t seem like the best idea. I’ve [sort of] made peace with that and hopefully something else equally as fabulous will come along. I have my eye on these edgy-yet-adorable Sergio Rossi boots I spotted on ShoeBox. They’re both fashionable and practical because the height is easy to walk in, and the styling is classic. I can just picture myself wearing them with black tights and a cozy green sweater dress. Now if only I can find them for less!
It’s the middle of winter here in Philadelphia, and although there aren’t piles of snow around on the sidewalks, the temperatures do dip below the 40s and that makes me want to put on my coziest outfits for outdoor excursions in center city. Icy sidewalks are no place for heels, and black ankle boots are the answer to staying chic in the cold. The best are those tastefully adorned with eye-catching details like buckles, zippers, and studs.
Whenever I shop, especially for shoes, I make sure to browse each isle twice in case I missed something the first time. I was doing my last rounds at DSW one night when out of the corner of my eye I spotted these stunners. It’s quite clear why they caught my interest: the unique studded pattern across the shoe, especially because it’s gold on black, is quite striking. Even though they’re not quite my style, I think they’d be quite the statement piece in any wardrobe! Available in burgundy or black, you can also find them on Zappos, Amazon, Piperlime, Lord & Taylor, and Nordstrom.
I absolutely love the color of these Christian Louboutin ankle boots! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m drawn to cobalt blue shoes. I’m not entirely sure why because blue isn’t even my favorite color. It probably has something to do with how well cobalt pops against dark or neutral-colored clothing.
