Double-Take: Céline Navy Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are a great transitional style and perfect for fall. Deep colors, such as brown, navy, and burgundy, are ideal. Whether they’re flat or heeled, they instantly update your wardrobe for the chillier weather. I absolutely love this pair from Céline. The perfectly straight heel, simple silhouette, and just-above-the-ankle shaft work together extremely well to create a basic style that works with literally everything.

Tuesday Shoesday: Mixed Media

On a recent trip to NYC, I had some time to pop into the 34th Street Vince Camuto store. I immediately gravitated towards these buckled ankle boots. The shape and style is fantastic, especially the golden heel, but what I like most is the use of mixed materials. The front is made in smooth leather with a matte finish, while the heel is made in shiny pony hair. The rich black patent straps around the ankle add the finishing touch to these fantastic ankle boots. These boots are from a relatively new line by Vince Camuto called Louise et Cie; you can find this particular style online at Nordstrom, and in different color variations on Vince Camuto.

Shoe of the Day: Quilted

Thanks to Chanel, there’s nothing more classic than quilted leather on a bag or a pair of shoes. The style is so iconic and statement-making that it’s become quite easy to get the look for less without it being a knock-off. Last month I wrote about a pair of booties on, which looked very much like a pair of Chanel booties, even down to the patent cap toe. And now I’ve come across this amazing pair from Nine West. It’s a little bit more bad-ass and edgy, which I’ve got to admit, I like a lot more. The heel seems a bit high, but I have a pair of boots from Nine West with a very high heel and they’re surprisingly comfortable. These are quite out of my budget for now, so I’ll just keep an eye on them and hopefully the price might drop.

Shoe of the Day: Rustic Roots

I love how popular shooties and booties are this season (there are some seriously cute styles out there right now), but I’ve always preferred short boots that end slightly above the ankle rather than exactly at the ankle. Last year I found an awesome pair of black leather ankle boots with buckles and a 3.5 inch heel. I wear them quite often, and I regret that I didn’t get them in brown as well. But at $100 each, I really couldn’t afford to. Since then, I’ve been searching for a pair of casual short boots in brown. These have exactly everything I’m looking for: suede, short heel, and a cool zipper detail. Unfortunately, they’re out of my price range. But I’ll be keeping an eye on them in case the price drops!

Tuesday Shoesday: Electric Blue

It was impossible to walk by Aldo without noticing these electric blue ankle booties. The color is so eye-catching, and the placement of the zippers gives them some edge. When I first saw these online, I wasn’t blown away; however, they look way cooler in person. I happened to be wearing a pair of dark pencil jeans when I tried them on, and the bright blue really popped. I’ve never had luck with the fit of shoes from Aldo, but these were actually great! Not too narrow, not too short. The only thing they lack is cushioning at the ball of foot, which can easily be added. I’m not ready to spend the money on them right now, but perhaps when they go on sale I’ll reconsider it!

Shoe of the Day: Bad-Ass Boots

I’m a sucker for boots with buckles, not sure why; it’s probably because they just look so cool. Plus, they can turn any casual outfit into something that looks more edgy and high fashion. I’m dying to wear these Vince Camuto boots with super-dark jeans and a loose white sweater. But first I have to get my hands on a pair. I saw these boots go one sale last year (the retails price of $170 is a bit steep) but all sites were out of my size. So I’m extremely happy to see that they’re back this season (Zappos, Macy’s, Amazon). Hopefully I’ll be able to snag a pair for myself this time!

Shoe of the Day: Buckled Booties

Even though temperatures are still very warm, fall boots have started popping into my head. Since it’s not quite chilly enough to wear knee-high boots yet, the Bravern ankle bootie by DV is perfect for the summer-to-fall transition period. They’re not quite what I would consider a boot (perhaps a shootie) because the coverage is more similar to a high-top sneaker. This particular pair is quite comfortable, with a zipper on the inside for easy on-and-off. I tried them on, but haven’t purchased them because it’s still fairly early in the season and I’m hoping for more styles to show up in stores. I’d really like a pair in black suede, maybe even with a slightly thicker sole.
