I love seeing shoes in a bold, striking hue. Combine this with a sleek design and you’ve got a winner. The Aminata heel from Alexander Wang has a rather simple silhouette, but the crocodile texture really makes the red color pop. You can get these at Farfetch and Barney’s Warehouse.
I’m a sucker for laced and strappy sandals, which is why the Zenaide by Givenchy caught my eye. I love the grommet detailing along the center strap, which is just enough to give them an edgy feel without being too overwhelming. The thin straps perfectly balance out the thicker sole and boot-like shape.
Laser technology allows for intricate detailing in the production of many goods, and I’m glad it’s being used more often for shoe design. Designers can craft styles with really unique shapes and patterns, turning shoes into works of art. The geometric detail in these Brian Atwood sandals makes them a great statement piece.
To put it simply, nirvana is a place or state characterized by freedom from or oblivion to pain, worry, and the external world. I’m not quite sure why this particular word was chosen as a name for these shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti, but I’m assuming that getting your hands on a pair would evoke a pretty fantastic feeling. The silhouette of this shoe is beautiful; a gently curving heel and the stunning snake-like ankle strap make the shoe sensual, elegant, and very unique. I can’t help by wonder how well they stay on though.
Studded shoes seem to be growing on me because I keep coming across styles that I really want. I especially love combinations of unexpected elements, such as feminine colors and shapes with edgier details. The Michael Kors Larissa is a perfect example. And although it looks fantastic in black (Zappos, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom), I absolutely love it in white (Macy’s) because an amazing balance of two different looks is achieved by combining the dainty white straps with hardcore studs. Without the metal accents, the shoes would look like any other evening sandal, but the studs add that extra element to make the shoes stand out among the rest.
It’s a particularly special Tuesday Shoesday because I finally get to share the custom shoes I won from Upper Street in May!
Upper Street London is a bespoke shoe designing site where you can get really creative and design the perfect pair of beautiful and unique shoes. I’m guilty of spending countless hours using their shoe designer to create little masterpieces. But my obsession with the site paid off in the end. How? #ShoesDayTuesday…the magical Twitter hashtag.
Who needs flip-flops if this kind of magical creation exists? I love these sandals (also in pink), I think they’re the epitome of cool summer style. You can get the original Valentino design at MyTheresa and Forward by Elyse Walker. Unfortunately, my pockets don’t run this deep. Luckily, I found what is possibly the best double-take version of a Valentino Rockstud style. The structure, color, and studs on the Denise sandal by Schutz mirror the original. The best part, the lining and upper are 100% leather!
