I literally stopped in my tracks when I spotted these BCBGeneration pumps at Macy’s. I’ve said before that I can’t resist shoes (or clothing for that matter) in a bold bright cobalt hue, and these drew me like a moth to a flame. Don’t they make you think of mermaids and exotic tropical fish? I love the subtlety textured, multi-colored iridescent leather…definitely the statement piece of an outfit. You can find these at your local Macy’s (they’re not online) or online at Belk, Dillard’s, and Amazon.
I first ventured into the world of smoking slippers back in December with an embellished pair from DSW. And although my style is more feminine with a bit of edge, I’ve found the menswear-inspired flats to be one of my favorites. They’re very laid back, extremely comfortable, and are a perfect finishing touch to my more casual sweater-and-legging outfits. It’s now the end of February and I’ve just gotten my third pair of smoking slippers. I found these by Vince Camuto at the bottom of the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for a steal at $20. I love them because of the quilted look, subtle snakeskin texture, and tiny studs across the entire shoe. They look a bit more refined than my other embellished pair, which makes them perfect for casual Fridays at the office!
I’m not sure if it’s because my biological clock is ticking, or simply the fact that my friend is about to pop, but I’ve been noticing all the little cute baby shoes out there, especially when I go shopping for baby shower gifts. I stumbled across these fabulous itty-bitty boots at Stuart Weitzman on Walnut Street in Center City. They were so adorable that I had to ooh and ahh out loud to the saleswoman. I have a feeling my future child will have the best shoes in school. But seriously…can I get these in my size too?
Remember that fantastic Brian Atwood sale I wrote about? Well here’s the amazing deal I managed to snag! I can’t tell you how long I’ve been looking for the perfect thigh high boots. I love how elegant an outfit can look with properly styled tall boots, not to mention they are great for lengthening the legs. What frustrated me the most during my search is that a lot of boots this high (for the price I was willing to pay) are crafted of man-made materials, which in my opinion don’t look as sophisticated. Another issue I encountered was that most styles I tried on went up just barely over my knees. Imagine my excitement when I spotted the Kacey on sale. As much as I wanted a pair of heeled leather thigh highs, the practicality and versatility of these suede flat-soled boots won me over, not to mention the fantastic price. I couldn’t wait to wear these, and immediately pulled them on when they arrived just two days later. It’s a good thing the weather isn’t warming up yet, I plan on wearing these a lot! If you love them as much as I do, the Kacey is still available in dark brown suede. I keep telling myself I don’t need them in another color…
I grew up with a lot of snow in my life. Living in NH as a kid and then choosing to go to the snowiest college in the country prepares you for the worst. These boots were my best friends for trudging to class during the long winters in Syracuse. I particularly love them because they don’t look like your average heavy-duty snow boot. Yes, they are a little clunky and big, but they’re also fun and cool. Sorel is pretty good at providing fashionable yet functional winter footwear for women, and the Joan of Arctic style is quite popular. I’m dying to get myself a pair of the reserve boots (always just a tad cooler than the regular) like these or these, but realistically, how many pairs of snow boots do I need?
As much as I love high tops and wedge sneakers, there’s really nothing I like more than a classic low-top sneaker with a slim profile. Out of my entire collection, my Converse sneakers get the most wear and are replaced the most often. As I was searching for my next pair at DSW, I came across these fantastic sneakers from Michael Kors. They stood out not only because of the studded toes (a detail I absolutely love!) but also the hint of metallic shine in the leather. I actually mentioned the high top version of these sneakers in an earlier post, and I’m so glad I came across these. Despite the uniqueness, they are a wear-anywhere shoe because of the neutral color and classic profile. I hope they don’t wear out too quickly!
Even though I wasn’t a believer when wedge sneakers were first introduced, I’m most definitely obsessed now. I think I just needed to get used to the idea of a casual shoe with an extra boost of height. The best thing about wedge sneakers is that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort if you find the right pair for you. There are thousands of different wedge sneakers out there, but not all of them are comfortable. I find that styles with a three-inch heel or less are easier to walk in for long periods of time. Ones that lace up also allow for a more customized fit. And don’t forget to factor in flexibility and padding, which is paramount to a good sneaker whether it’s flat or heeled.
I plucked these Ash Cool sneakers off the cluttered shelves of Ross in downtown Philly just before Christmas. Originally, I wanted a pair of Bowie sneakers, but I found them less comfortable and more narrow. I really lucked out with these because I found my size mixed in with larger pairs and they were the last left! But don’t worry if you can’t get to Ross, you can also find these on Shopbop, The Outnet, Zappos, and Amazon.
After TJ Maxx launched The Runway in select stores a few years ago, my chances at finding high-end shoes for less greatly increased. My collection of decadent footwear grew significantly since then, but there was always a nagging thought at the back of my mind: what about Manolos, Jimmy Choos, and Louboutins? Today I finally got my answer.
I’ve never really been a fan of Jessica Simpson shoes, mostly because I have yet to find a pair that fits comfortably on my feet. Many of the styles never particularly grabbed my attention either; I find most of them too plain, too high, unoriginal, or not classy enough for my tastes. Lately, however, I’ve spotted a pair or two that would fit in rather well with the rest of my collection, and it’s making me wonder whether there’s someone new designing shoes for the brand. I’ll have to do a little digging to find out, but in the mean time, salivate over this super sexy strappy sandal I found during a trip to DSW. I didn’t get a chance to try them on, but they look like they’d fit on the foot pretty snugly because of all the straps.
How wonderful it is that Tuesday Shoesday falls on New Year’s Eve, a night during which every shoe lover should don their most fantastic footwear to great the new year! I was lucky enough to find these lovelies from the Ralph Lauren Collection some time ago and have been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear them. My NYE celebrations aren’t exactly a place for designer footwear (I care about my shoes too much to subject them to spilled drinks and clumsy dancing) so I’ll be saving these for another special event, such as Valentine’s day.
