Double-Take

Double-Take: Manolo Blahnik Campari

Manolo Blahnik Campari Black Patent
Manolo Blahnik Campari (Barneys)
Charles David Scholar Black Patent Mary Jane Pump

The Manolo Blahnik Campari is an instant classic, and a very ladylike shoe. It works perfectly with any outfit, whether it’s jeans, a skirt, or a dress. Of course, the price tag isn’t so lovely if you’re on a budget. The Charles David Scholar is the most similar to the Campari and made of leather, but it also costs a bit much. Here are some other options:

Nine West Bouffant (Amazon, 6pm)

You can almost never go wrong with Nine West. Their shoes last a long time if taken care of, and most are made with quality materials. This shoe also comes in silver.

Via Spiga Pauletta (DSW)

The Pauletta is available online at DSW. You might be able to find it in Nordstrom Rack as well, I found it there in black patent. The fit is pretty true to size and makes the foot look very delicate. If you have wide feet though, this pair might not be the best option.

JImmy-Choo-Vamp-Neon-Yellow

Double-Take: Jimmy Choo Vamp

Jimmy Choo Vamp (Neiman Marcus)

The Jimmy Choo Vamp sandal is super popular…and it’s comfortable! I found a neon orange pair at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago for $112 (gasp!), but alas it was a size 38 (roughly US 7.5), which just didn’t work on my foot. I’m usually a 36.5 or 37 in Jimmy Choos, and I’ve found that they run a bit large. If it’s in your budget to get the real deal, go for it! If not, I’ve found some alternative options:

 Diba Tenith (DSW)

Jimmy Choo Vamp (Saks)
Nina Jacalyn (Zappos)

Express Strappy Sandal
Express Strappy Sandal (Express)

The general platform and heel shape of the Jacalyn, Tenith, and Express shoe differ slightly from the Vamp, but the strap structure is the same, which really holds the foot securely. I like that the pair from Express isn’t a direct copy in terms of coloring, but the other two are extremely similar to the Vamp. I can’t really comment on the comfort of the alternatives since I haven’t tried any of them on, but if you have, let me know!

Update 5/8:

Came across another pair of double-takes today. These Colin Stuart shoes look similar to the Vamp in structure, but the shape of the platform and heel is slightly different:

Colin Stuart Sandal (Victoria’s Secret)

Giuseppe-Zanotti-Muffa-Cap-Toe-Pump

Double-Take: Giuseppe Zanotti Cap Toe Pump

Giuseppe Zanotti Muffa (The Outnet);

 Nine Eldori (DSW, Nina Shoes)

Giuseppe Zanotti designs such a wide range of shoes, from classic to fantastical. The Muffa is a classic cap-toe pump with a twist: Swarowski crystals on the toe. If you can get them in your size, they’re on sale on theoutnet.com for $299 (50% off retail). The Nina Eldori is a great alternative if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly. They’re also made of leather, which is a huge plus for the price point!

Fake vs. Double-Take

Not everyone can afford the Real Deal, so naturally, there are fakes of designer shoes, handbags, and clothing. A stranger might not notice the difference (unless they have a very keen eye), but there’s something bothersome about wearing a fake. You’re really fooling yourself (as well as others), because most are sub-par quality, and don’t even come close to the real thing. Luckily, there’s a way of getting around that: fast fashion.
