Sergio Rossi

Sale at Saks

I had one of those “stop everything!” moments when I saw the email from Saks pop into my mailbox announcing a shoe sale. I like to check everything out before it’s all gone, so I headed to the site right away. And I wasn’t disappointed with the selection! Here are some of my picks:

Tamara-Mellon-Lipstick-Grommet-Sandal

Grommets can sometimes look tacky or overdone, but Tamara Mellon strikes a great balance. They give this feminine minimalist sandal a tough-luxe vibe without making it look too heavy. If you’re loving this look, head over to her website to see some more stunners on clearance.

Sergio-Rossi-Asymmetric-Cut-Out-Pump

I have a love-hate relationship with asymmetric shoes; they have to be made just right to actually create a flattering look on the foot. But every now and then, I come across what I consider a real stunner. These pumps by Sergio Rossi are perfectly balanced when it comes to coverage, and the slim strap will make any ankle look dainty. I also love the deep indigo color, which is great for the upcoming fall season.

Manolo-Blahnik-Chaos-Snakeskin-Sandal

The Manolo Blahnik Chaos sandal played a huge role in the minimalist sandal movement. It’s not hard to see why: the shoes are classic, comfortable, and timeless. Black and nude work great with all outfits, but grab a pair in citron or orange for a pop of color with your spring and summer outfits.

Alice-+-Olivia-Jase-Fringe-Pumps

Fringe played a major role this past spring, but I’ve always felt that it’s a texture more suitable to fall. It can add a great boho or rocker vibe. I’m not the biggest fan of heavy amounts of fringe, so I think it’s best to stick to one statement piece in an outfit. Of course I’m going to choose shoes, and these pumps from Alice + Olivia are a great place to start. If they’re out of your size, check out this sandal from Stuart Weitzman.

Vince-Gita-Suede-Ankle-Strap-Sandal

I’m a big fan of Vince shoes for the clean lines and modern feel. The silhouette of these sandals is perfectly balanced, and I love the thicker heel.  If Saks is out of your size, check Gilt.

Shoe of the Day: Straight-Laced

Sergio-Rossi-Embossed-Laced-Up-Ankle-Boot

I’m a sucker for ankle boots with interesting details…and the fact that these are made by Sergio Rossi (The Outnet) pretty much seals the deal. Those Italians sure know what to do with shoes! I love the asymmetric lacing on the heel, exposing the embossed texture underneath. I almost wish that the color peeking out from beneath the black was more vibrant, like cobalt blue or yellow. Either way, these are a stunning example of what a unique ankle boot should look like!

Italian infatuation: Casadei and Sergio Rossi

When you think of luxury designer shoes, what’s the first name that pops into your head? It’s most likely one of these three: Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, or Jimmy Choo. And although it’s true that the those three designers certainly have stunning collections, Italian designers will always be placed higher on my list.

We all know there’s nothing better than real Italian pasta, and I’m here to tell you there’s also nothing better than an Italian shoe. I have a weak spot for fine Italian shoes. I don’t know why and how it started, but they are always at the top of my ever-changing list of shoes I lust after. Perhaps it’s because Italian shoes are consistently ranked high among most favored luxury footwear. Or maybe because the quality is, in my opinion, unsurpassed. Spending a summer in Florence surrounded by exquisite shoes on almost every street undoubtedly left it’s mark on my preferences as well. Whatever the reason for my partiality is, there’s no denying that Italian shoes are some of the best out there; fashion houses Gucci, Sergio Rossi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Aquazzura, and more all originated in Italy. And if you look for it, you’ll notice that almost all luxury footwear (whether the designer is Italian or not) is stamped with “Made in Italy” on the bottom.

My two favorite Italian designer shoes are Casadei and Sergio Rossi. Both companies have a unique vision, and although I don’t always love every single shoe in the seasonal collections, I can always count on their more classic designs.
